Riassunto |
The question of God was a major concern throughout the history of Western philosophy. God was celebrated in the premodern period, man replaced God in the modern era, and with the cliché ‘death of god’, man is being celebrated in postmodernity. As a result, godlessness, sinlessness, and practical atheism have quietly made their way through. A kind of default theism has come to become a kind of default atheism. William Desmond, an Irish living philosopher, evidences the Godlessness in the postmodern era and is disturbed by the silence of the philosophers in speaking about God. He dares to break the silence about God and reconstructs a metaxological way to God. Metaxology is the logos of the metaxu, meaning the reasoning in the between, between the self and the other. The rich concept of metaxu dwells on the double mindfulness of the meta: between and beyond. This book unclogs the restless surplus in the immanent as indication to plenitude (between) that indirects superplenitude (beyond)--Quarta di copertina |
