Catalogue Display
The Catalogue Display of records selected on the Search Results screen has the following features. As many of the options can be switched on/off by your library, they may not all be available in the catalogue you are searching.
- The search term used for the search will be highlighted in the Search Results List, and in the display of the bibliographic record (after selecting a term on the Search Results List)
- For each record selected, both bibliographic details and item holdings information will be displayed. Your library will have decided whether to display the bibliographic details or the item information first for each record. If the record displayed is a MAB record, there may also be Tags listed from the MAB Local record that is tied to the MAB bibliographic record. The number currently in the Reservation Queue will also be displayed.
- If multiple records have been selected for viewing, the records will be displayed on a scroll-through list and each record will have a number, e.g. Number 2 of 16.
- If a single record is selected for display, Previous and Next buttons will display at the top of the Catalogue Display page to allow movement up and down the Search Results list from the selected record point without having to return to the Search Results page. The Previous and Next buttons do not display if the Display All or Display Selection buttons have been selected - it is only if a SINGLE record has been selected for display.
Bibliographic Record
- Enriched Content: This button will appear if there is an ISBN on the bibliographic record. Selecting the button will retrieve from Amazon Web Services whatever information they have on the book and display it. Note: This linking may not work on slow Internet connections. Your library may also subscribe to Enriched Information services, and have another link available underneath the bibliographic information that provides additional information such as Table of Contents, Indexes, Summaries, Review Notes etc.
- ISBD Display: This button will display the record and holdings in the ISBD format. For MAB records, the display will be in the RAK format.
- Tag Display: This button will display the MARC or MAB record (if existing) with tags and subfield numbers. For MAB bibliographic records that are linked to a MAB local record, the local Tags will also display.
- Related Works: These can be accessed either by clicking on the hyperlinked term in the bibliographic record display, or by clicking on the Related Works button (if activated). Related Works display for Subjects, Series, Authors, Corporate Authors and Classifications. Your library may also have setup that the Related Works display at the end of the catalogue detail, and may also have enabled a hierarchy-level type display known as the Term Map.
- Bibliographic Links: Click on this button to view the list of all records in the link (this button is only visible if links exist).
- Hierarchy Links: Click on this button to view the records in the MAB Hierarchy (this button is only visible if links exist).
- Images: Click on this button to view the images that are tied to the record (this button is only visible if images exist). If Thumbnail Images are displayed, you can click on it to enlarge it to its full size.
- MARC XML: If activated, the record can be viewed in Marc XML format.
- Add Title to Basket: Click on this button to add the Title to the Basket/Bibliography.
Item Information
- The Item Information section for each record (which can be displayed either above or below the bibliographic details) shows the list of holdings details and can include (if all options are activated by your library) Barcode, Shelf Location (multiple Call Numbers may display if they exist, but the Main Call Number will be shown first and with an *), Collection, Volume Reference (this may display as a hyperlink if applicable) and Linked Articles (if setup with a link to a URL), Branch (may be linked to a URL to display Branch information), Status and Due Date. If items are In Transit between Branches, the from and to Branches will be shown.
- If the Branches are hyperlinked, you can click on the link to view address, contact, opening hours and other information about that Branch. From the Branch details page, you may also be able to link to Google Maps for the location of the Branch.
- If items are Not for Loan you can usually see the reason why in a tooltip displayed by hovering the cursor over the Not for Loan term. There is also an optional facility which may have been switched on by your library that displays the Borrower name and Location for items on loan. If the Borrower has an Email address on their record, their name will be displayed as a link which you can click on to take you directly to your Email program with the Borrower email address filled in.
- Title Reservations or Item-Specific Reservation are possible from the Catalogue Display screen. Please refer to the Reservations topic for further information.
- A Linked Item Information section may display underneath the normal Item Information section if the linked bibliographic records contain MAB data. It displays the same data as in the normal Item Information section and includes the holdings from the linked records. You cannot Reserve items from the Linked Item Information display.
Item Information display for Serials Issues
- Some libraries may have setup groups to enable Serials Issues to be summarised for easier access in WebOPAC. These summaries can include groupings by Branch, by Branch and Year, Branch Year and Month, Branch and Month, Year and Month, Year Only, Year and Branch etc.
- If this type of grouping has been enabled, the Item Information displays will vary, but each level will be hyperlinked for access to the next or final level of the display.
- Different serial records can have different types of groups, depending on the frequency of issues.
Other Links and Features
Click to open:
Wikipedia
The LIBERO WebOPAC has an optional feature that provides a link to Wikipedia for the Author in the bibliographic record. If enabled, a Link to Wikipedia will be displayed at the top of the record display on the Catalogue Display page. The Wikipedia site that the link will go to depends on what the current language is selected in WebOPAC. The Wikipedia link will display if an Author exists on the bibliographic record. Display of the Link does not mean that there is actual information on Wikipedia regarding that Author, as this cannot be established until the search is done in Wikipedia.
LibraryThing
If the Link to LibraryThing has been activated by your Library, AND if an ISBN exists in the bibliographic record, a LibraryThing link will be displayed at the top of the bibliographic record display. Click on this to link to http://www.librarything.com (if the WebOPAC is set to the German language, the LibraryThing link will link to the German LibraryThing website). If the selected record has been catalogued on LibraryThing it will automatically display, otherwise the LibraryThing search screen will display.
Reviews and Ratings
Reviews and Ratings is an optional feature available for WebOPAC, whereby Members can add their own Reviews to records and give the record a star Rating, and view Reviews and Ratings entered by other Members. Libraries can choose between allowing all Reviews and Ratings to automatically be accepted and immediately display in WebOPAC (with a link for the reporting of inappropriate Reviews), or choose to approve the Reviews before making them available to the public in WebOPAC (or declining them!). They can also choose the maximum number of Reviews to display for each catalogue record
If the Reviews and Ratings feature is enabled, a Reviews link will appear at the top of records on the Catalogue Display page. Click on this link to be taken to the Reviews section at the end of the record display. If there are no existing Reviews, a this item has not been rated message is displayed and a link is available to Add a Review and/or Rating. If there are existing Reviews, the current average star Rating will be shown, as well as a graphical display of the overall star Rating, and the number for each of the Rating levels. The Add a Review and/or Rating link is shown, but the Reviews and Ratings page can also be accessed by clicking on the stars graphic. The existing Reviews are shown in a table that includes:
- Member
- Date/Time
- Rating
- Comment - i.e. the comments as entered by the Member that has added the Review. If the Review has been edited since first being added, [ed] will also appear in this column. If the comment contains a sensored word, "BLEEP" will appear in its place.
- Options -this column only displays if new Reviews are being automatically posted and it will include a link for the reporting of inappropriate reviews.
If Reviews exist, the star rating is also shown underneath the Title on the Search Results page. You can also access the Reviews and Rating entry page from here by clicking on the stars graphic if you wish to add your own Review. Members can edit their own Reviews in Member Services.
To add a Review and Rating
- Click on the Add a Review and/or Rating" link (or the stars graphic) and a new page will be displayed with the following fields for completion:
- Member No
- Password
- Rating (select from 0 to 5)
- Comment
- It is mandatory for the Member No and Password to be entered, as anonymous Reviews will not be accepted.
- When all details have been entered, click on the SUBMIT button. The Review will either be immediately made available in WebOPAC or will be added to the Approvals table for verification by library staff before being made available for WebOPAC.
Browse Shelf
The LIBERO WebOPAC has an optional "shelf browsing" feature available from the full Catalogue Display. It allows the browsing of Titles on the "previous shelf" and "next shelf" based on the Call Number (not all Call Number formats are supported). The Call Number may come from the bibliographic record or the item record, depending on how your Library has set it up. The Call Number of the selected record is the starting point. If your Library has enabled this feature, they will also have set the number of Results per page and the number of Results per row for the Shelf display.
If a bibliographic record has a complying Call Number, a Browse Shelf link will appear at the top of the record display. Click on this button to display the first page of shelf images. Previous Shelf and Next Shelf buttons are provided to be able to move up or down the shelf. The display uses book cover images from Amazon if available (based on the ISBN). If a book cover image is not available, a book image graphic displays, overlaid with the Title and Author. The Call Number is shown underneath all images.
If you hover-over a book on the shelf, the holding information summary will be displayed, plus a link to run a search for the Author, and a link to the Branch Details (if enabled).
The Search Results list can also be displayed in the shelf layout.
Bookmark Record
If enabled by your Library, a Bookmark this Record link will be displayed at the top of each record on the Catalogue Display page to enable you to add social bookmark tags, and make it available as a public bookmark if desired. You can check any existing public Bookmark Tags on the record by clicking on the Common Bookmarks link (if displayed), which will take you to the end of the record. After clicking on the Bookmark link, the Login Verification page will display. After login, the Manage RSS Feeds page will display for completion.
Manage RSS Feeds
If your Library has activated the facility to allow its Members to maintain RSS Feeds, this can be done via the Manage RSS Feeds option on the Member Services menubar. Any existing RSS Feeds or Bookmarked Tags that you have setup will be displayed on the right of the page. Any of these can be selected for editing or deletion. To enter a new RSS Feed, the following fields need to be completed:

- URL: Enter the URL to which the feed is to link to, e.g. www.thefreedictionary.com/_/WoD/rss.aspx

- Notes: Optional field to enter comments or notes about the Feed.
- When all details have been entered, click on the button. The Feed will then be added to the list of existing RSS Feeds.
- To remove a Feed, select it from the list of existing RSS Feeds, switch ON the Delete checkbox, then click on the button.
